Many of you know the Horror story regarding my home remodel from two years ago. For those who do not, halfway through a very large remodel and new addition, the contractor revealed to me that he had run out of money, could not pay the subcontractors, and subsequently left my project unfinished, and with many people unpaid for their work.
And yes, I did my due diligence in finding him. AND I had a contract with him written by my Architect, but neither mattered.
I was far too trusting in the ability of my contractor, my architect and the legal advice I was getting..
Trust.
Since then, TRUST is a very big deal to me..
It has always been the most important thing with regards to my son, as far as those that are around him, because he is non-verbal and can not communicate effectively to the possibility that someone is not treating him well.
But in the other avenues of my world, I had always believed that people could be held to their word.
It was a very hard and expensive lesson to learn.
I had no recourse, I was told, as the contractor had no money for me to get from him in a lawsuit, and I was very angry that I had been effectively scammed and I wanted to make sure that other women would not be taken advantage of as I had.
So when I was looking for a way to steer my life as My son, Mattie was going into his adult life, I wanted to make a difference in some way. I studied and finished Advocacy training with The Federation for Children with Special Needs, as I thought that would be a great fit for me with all my experiences with Autism. I found the work and cases to be too depressing as there was so much disregard to the quality of life and educational rights of those with Special Needs.
I needed a break, at least in a career, from the day to day life of Autism that I had, and still do, live.
After a conversation with a landscaper I was interviewing to hire for a lawn replacement, I realized that I could help other women find the homes they deserved, and be the person they Trusted to honestly help them buy or sell their property, by becoming a REALTOR.
And here I am!
I have gotten my license, signed on with Coldwell Banker Reality Brokerage in Lynnfield, Mass, and now am helping other women have the confidence and the Trust in someone to make their dream home a reality.
I want to be the person who one woman will say to another, “Do you need a REALTOR that will sell your house faster and for thousands more than you thought possible? Want someone you Trust? That’s Sandy Moroney.”.
More than anything, I want that!
I want to be Trusted.
Because, being Trusted is the biggest complement I could ever give someone.
